Loan Against Property
A loan against property lets you borrow against a home, shop or office you own, while you keep using it.
What is a loan against property?
A loan against property (LAP) is a secured loan. The lender values your property and lends a share of that value. You keep living in or using the property, but the lender can recover its dues from it if you do not repay.

- Use the funds for business, education, medical needs or to clear other debt
- Residential and commercial property can both qualify
- The property needs a clear title and no legal disputes
Frequently asked questions
Which properties can I borrow against?
Most lenders accept residential and commercial property that you own. If the property is jointly owned, all owners usually need to be co-applicants.
How much can I borrow?
The lender values your property and lends a share of that value. The share depends on the property type, your income and the lender's policy.
Can I keep using my property?
Yes. You can keep living in it or running your business from it while you repay the loan.
What can I use the money for?
Any lawful purpose, such as business needs, education, medical costs or clearing other debt.
What documents do I need?
Usually the property papers, income proof (salary slips or ITRs), identity and address proof, and bank statements.
Which properties cannot be used?
Lenders usually decline property without a clear title, property under a legal dispute, and property already pledged elsewhere.
What if I cannot repay?
Missed EMIs lead to charges and hurt your credit score. If the loan stays unpaid, the lender can recover its dues from the property.
Will applying affect my credit score?
When a lender processes your application, it may check your credit report. Each check is recorded. Many applications in a short time can lower your score, so apply only where you plan to borrow.
Can I finish my application later?
Yes. Open the resume application page, enter the mobile number you applied with and verify the OTP. You continue from the step where you stopped.
